Located in the South-West of Sri Lanka, Sinharaja Rainforest is the country’s last area of primary tropical rainforest. It is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Many animals and plants are endemic and rare. It is one of the few virgin rainforests left in the world. The Tour starts at 04:30 am from Dikwella town. Please wear good shoes and long trousers. If you like, you can take swim clothes and, just in case, a second outfit for changing into. The drive to Deniyaya will take around 2.5 hours. You travel through beautiful landscapes with mountains and paddy fields. The Tour through the Sinharaja Rainforest will be guided by a professional English-speaking tour guide from the Rainforest. Lunch is included, and on the way back, you can visit the Lumbini tea factory and have the possibility for a tea tasting. We would be very happy to organise our Sinharaja Rainforest tour for you.

It’s a true nature reserve where you can watch the Indian pied kingfishers, purple and grey herons and majestic white-bellied sea eagles, among many others. A small island in the middle of the lake is called Cinnamon. An island, where you can venture out and talk to locals about the wonders of cinnamon. There are many more islands located on the lake, such as Temple Island, which is visited often during Poya (full moon) and Herb Island, which is famous for its Ayurvedic products and so on.
